"I fully support the efforts which parents and many other people are making to ensure that there is a wider choice of good quality secondary schools for their children to choose from. Not every family wants to send their children to schools with more than a thousand pupils. Many parents who have chosen to make their homes in rural communities would prefer a smaller school in a more rural setting. That diversity of choice is what this campaign is seeking to provide."

What is the Impact on you?

We are now in the process of putting the application together for an exciting Free School in Stoke-by-Nayland.

The impact of keeping a school in the area will be positive on the entire community, it's economy and viability and sustainability, never mind providing a great education for our children!

Parents move to areas with great schools if at all possible. If the school is gone, they won't. This can lead to less earning and employment in the area, and less taxes paid, with less young families in the area, the very foundation of the community. Hopefully we won't face this issues now.

With the school intact, local business will find it easier to recruit the talent they need to prosper.

The children who do remain will have the links with their community strengthened. Once they are finished school, they are more likely to stay in the area, and return to the area again if they do move away. A virtous circle

We are very hopeful that, after the recent announcements by the education secretary on Free Schools, and given the progress we are making with Government, the council, government agencies, the community, local businesses, and education providers that your choice of education for your children has a real chance of being preserved after 2013.
